Fortunately there’s a pretty easy workaround to get Audacity back to full functionality in Catalina on your Mac system, though it requires you to put on your geeky command line beanie for just a minute or two. Don’t worry, though, at the end of the article I’ll show you how to make that as easy as possible. Check the Project Rate bottom left of the Audacity screen is set to either 44,100 or 48,000 Hz - setting a very high rate might overload the USB bandwidth and cause transmission problems.

Audacity 2.3.3 serves as the latest stable release of the famous open source audio editor. But the team behind the tool say that this update offers “no new and almost no changed features” when compared to previous builds.

Among the features removed in Audacity 2.3.3 because the app has newer/better/alternatives:

Nyquist Workbench
Vocal remover effect
Normalise on load
On-demand loading of aliased files (e.g., .wav, .aiff)

Additionally, the catch-all ‘equalization effect’ has been split into two separate effects: Filter Curve allows users to adjust equalization using curves; Graphical EQ allows users to adjust equalization using sliders.
