Screw Microsoft Office for the Mac, you don't need it, just download NeoOffice, it's free and works with M$ files just fine. If you are a power Excel user then you may still want, and need Office, but if you are not then don't look back.
While not all of the below apps are must haves (especially not for everyone), and some of them may do the same (or some of the same) things (one you may like better than the other, or just feel like using), I'll start in my Applications folder and make a list, it's too many to make links, but it won't be hard finding them, and you may find something else along the way.
